Yesterday, San Antonio paused. Wreaths laid at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Flags lowered at Lackland, Randolph, and across Bexar County. Families gathered around graves that hold someone they loved.
Memorial Day is the one American holiday that asks for nothing. No gifts. No parades for the living. No celebration of the people still here. It exists to remember those who did not come home.
What We Carry Forward
Today, the parking lots are open again. The grills are cooling. The flags are still flying — a little lower than they will be by tomorrow.
In Military City USA, Memorial Day is not a single day. It is the weight of generations who served from this city, from these neighborhoods, from these families. The Gold Star families on Walzem Rd and across San Antonio carry it every day — not just the last Monday of May.
At Sergeant Clutch, we will not pretend that flying a flag makes us heroes. We are a shop. But we are a shop in a town built by people who served, and we honor them by doing right by their families.
Thank You, San Antonio
To everyone who served. To everyone who waited. To everyone who never came home — and to the families who still feel that empty seat at every table — thank you. We remember.
